Mini Squad
Emphasis:
This squad signifies the change from the learn to swim program to squad training with an ongoing focus on good technique.
Swimmers will be introduced to:
- streamlining;
- tumble turns for freestyle;
- other turns; and
- racing dives
To be eligible:
- Swim 25m of each stroke
- Ability to exit 25m pool from bottom (Water Safety)
- Tread water, in clothes, for 3 minutes (Water Safety)
- Elementary dive start
- Introductory starts and turns
- I.M. with turns
- Race simulation performed
Equipment:
Water Bottle, Kick Board and Pull Buoy

Skills Squad
Emphasis:
This squad introduces the concept of fitness and competitive swimming whilst maintaining a strong emphasis on technique and stroke development. Swimmers will be introduced to:
- using the pace clock;
- training techniques and race skills;
- reading training sets from the board; and
- opportunities to represent the club at transition & regional organised meets.
To be eligible:
- Confidently swim 50m of each stroke demonstrating sound technique;
- Start and turn satisfactorily.

Water Bottle, Kick Board, Pull Buoy and Fin

Development Squad
Emphasis:
This squad develops swimmer’s fitness, skills, technique and competitive practice. Swimmers will be introduced to:
- nutrition concepts;
- other supporting fitness and strength practices;
- meet preparation;
- opportunities to represent the club at development, regional and state organised meets.
To be eligible:
- Confidently swim 100m of each stroke;
- Swim in an organised squad training session;
- Confidently use the pace clock; and
- Independently complete training set

Water Bottle, Kick Board, Pull Buoy, Fins, Finger Paddles and Snorkel

Wizards Squad
Emphasis:
This squad is aimed at swimmers who are capable of training at a higher level whether it be for competition or fitness or supporting involvement in other sports. Swimmers will focus on:
- Goal setting;
- Nutrition;
- Fitness and strength;
- Aerobic capacity;
- Meet preparation; and
- If desired, opportunities to represent the club at external meets up to and including National Championships.
To be eligible:
- Setting goals to identify what is hoped to be achieved from participating in this squad; and
- Be capable of training consistently at a higher level.
