Learn to Swim (from 3 years)

The Wizards Swim School @ Bracken Ridge offers a comprehensive and structured Learn to Swim program. Operating six days a week, your swimmer will progress through 8 levels of classes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Further refinement of underwater glides and kicks
  • Introduction to basic freestyle and back drills (single arm, 6 kick switch, side to side)
  • Propulsive butterfly kicks with hip movement, relaxed knees and ankles
  • Propulsive butterfly arms entering in front and exiting water with straight arms next to legs
  • Introduction to basic butterfly drills (single arm with board, 4 kicks 1 stroke, 2 left 2 right with board)
  • Propulsive, narrow, well-timed breaststroke kick with straight legs and pointed feet in the glide
  • Effective breaststroke arms with hands sweeping under chest. Finishing with straight arms in front next to head
  • Introduction to basic breaststroke drills (single arm with board, free super kick with breast arms, 2 kicks 1 pull, 2 pull 1 kick)
  • Straight, streamline underwater glides and fly kicks
  • Standing dives from block
  • Effective forward somersaults
